What is the range of Passive Transponders?

Passive Transponders don’t need a power supply (such as a battery), they get their energy from an Electromagnetic Field, which is built into the reader.  However, they can only be used within a range of 5 meters.
They have a lower transmitter range compared to an Active Transponder’s range, however they are durable and long-lasting. Typically Passive Transponders are used for Entrance-Control-Systems and is the chip that’s used when microchipping pets.
