Case Study

nagels supports a tourist region with intelligent products

As an international provider of ticket system solutions for tourism, we were asked by the tourist board of the vacation region Pyhrn Priel, Austria, to develop an easy print solution for a tourist benefit card.

The requirements:

The target groups were short-term tourists, long-term tourists and local residents. The AktivCard enables customers to benefit from discounts and free services in related areas, such as public transportation, sport facilities, restaurants and retail. The card should be appealing, convenient to personalise, and quickly obtainable by customers at as many places as possible.

The solution:

nagels proposed a solution using two different card media: the tourist board of Pyhrn-Priel should implant the AktivCard as paper and plastic card at the same time.

The AktivCard in paper:

The AktivCard as a sustainable and cost-effective paper version can easily be personalised using a standard hotel computer and be printed on any normal laser or inkjet printer. This way, the AktivCard can be issued by hotels without additional hardware and software. Every customer can get his or her personal card immediately at arrival, making it ideal for short-term travellers.

The AktivCard in plastic:

The plasticAktivCard is as simple as the paper version, but with higher value. The PVC solution is more resistant against external influences like rain and heat and is published at the regional administration department. It is easy to personalise and offers several security features. Special software and a plastic card printer are provided. This card is adjusted for tourists who stay longer in the region and of course for locals. Made out of PVC, it is the perfect solution for long-term use.

Usage of the AktivCard

Every participating facility was equipped with a card reader. Thanks to the integrated and user-friendly software, the card usage will be documented to prevent unwanted multiple entries. The software has universal application and offers an intuitive user experience.

Both cards are also available as AktivCard Kids, to offer little visitors special attractions.
